Talas lies just east of Kayseri in central Anatolia, on the slopes that rise toward the mountains above the city. On a map, the older part of the town sits higher up, with steep, winding streets that follow the hillside, while newer neighbourhoods spread out across the lower ground toward Kayseri.
The old quarter still has many stone houses, some built by the Greek and Armenian communities who once lived here, and its narrow lanes show as a tight, irregular pattern on the poster. Lower down, wide avenues and large apartment blocks form a much more regular grid.
Today Talas is closely linked to Kayseri and to its universities, and the two areas have largely grown together. A Talas map poster shows that contrast between the old hillside town and the modern city that has grown up below it.
