Volochysk Map Poster & Print
Volochysk lies in the Khmelnytskyi region of western Ukraine, on the left bank of the Zbruch River. Directly across the water is Pidvolochysk, in the Ternopil region. On a map the two towns face each other, linked by a bridge and by the railway, with the river winding between them.
For much of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the Zbruch marked the border between the Russian Empire and Austria-Hungary, and later between Poland and the Soviet Union. Volochysk was a border station, and its layout still reflects the role of the railway and the river crossing.
A Volochysk map poster shows a small town shaped by that line of water. The Zbruch runs as a clear curve through the composition, the rail lines cross it on a straight path, and the streets of both banks gather near the crossing. It is a quiet image with a lot of history in it.

Former border crossing
For decades the river was an international border, and the bridge and railway crossing were the town's reason for being.
Two towns, one view
Volochysk and Pidvolochysk appear side by side, so the poster shows two neighbouring street networks linked across the water.
