Valley floor
The town is stretched along a narrow valley, so its streets run mostly parallel to the river. The result is a long, linear composition.

Vulcan Map Poster
Vulcan is one of the towns of the Jiu Valley in Hunedoara County. For more than a century, this deep basin in the Southern Carpathians has been the centre of Romanian coal mining. The town follows the course of the Jiul de Vest. On a map, it forms a long, narrow strip of streets squeezed between mountain slopes.
The town grew rapidly with the mines, and its layout shows it. Older houses sit along the valley road, and blocks of flats were added in the socialist period to house workers. Above the town rise the Vâlcan Mountains, which lend the place its name and now draw hikers and skiers as well as miners.
A Vulcan map poster works well in portrait orientation. That format follows the valley and lets the mountain slopes frame the street network on either side. The Noir style suits the town's industrial past, while Paper softens the landscape and brings out the forest edges above the valley floor.

Mining heritage
Vulcan grew with coal mining in the Jiu Valley. Workers' housing and industrial sites are still part of the town's shape on the map.
Vâlcan Mountains
Steep, forested slopes rise directly above the town. They border the built-up area and give the poster a sense of enclosure.
