Dunbage lies in southwestern Xinjiang, on the western edge of the Tarim Basin, in the oasis country around Kashgar. From above, it is a settlement defined by water. Irrigation canals branch across the land, and the cultivated area forms a sharply edged patch against the dry plain around it.
Towns in this part of Xinjiang depend on meltwater carried down from the mountains to the south and west. Poplar-lined roads and canals divide the oasis into long, narrow fields and orchards. Villages and small centres sit along these routes, and the map reads almost like a diagram of irrigation.
A Dunbage map poster captures that ordered pattern: straight roads, branching channels and parcels of farmland set among open ground. It is an unusual composition with a strong graphic structure, and it suits anyone connected to the oases of southern Xinjiang.
Canals branch through the settlement and carry water to fields and orchards. Their lines form the backbone of the map.
Long, narrow plots line the roads and channels. Together they build a fine, repeating texture across the oasis.
Beyond the cultivated land lies dry, open ground. The poster shows it as blank space that sharpens the outline of the oasis.

An oasis map shows how carefully water shapes a place, and this one does so clearly. It is a fitting keepsake for families from the Kashgar region or for anyone drawn to desert landscapes.
