Faribault is the seat of Rice County in southern Minnesota, about an hour south of the Twin Cities. The town grew at the confluence of the Cannon River and the Straight River, and the two waterways shape its map, curving through the town and dividing it into distinct sections. Interstate 35 runs along its western side.
The town takes its name from Alexander Faribault, a fur trader who settled here in the nineteenth century. Its downtown has a well-preserved main street, and the Faribault Woolen Mill, founded in 1865, still operates beside the Cannon River, making it one of the oldest working woollen mills in the United States.
On the hills overlooking the town is Shattuck-St. Mary's, a historic boarding school with a campus of stone buildings and green grounds. Lakes and parks surround the town, especially to the west and south. A Faribault map poster captures the rivers, the grid of the historic centre and the scattered lakes of the surrounding countryside.
The Cannon and Straight rivers meet in the town, their winding courses running through neighbourhoods and parks on the map.
The Faribault Woolen Mill stands beside the Cannon River, a long-running local business rooted in the town since 1865.
Several lakes lie near the town, their rounded shapes and shoreline roads adding open space to the edges of the map.

Ko e hā ʻa Faribault
Faribault means something to people who grew up in Rice County, attended school on the hill or have a blanket from the local mill. A map of the town brings those connections together in one clear image.
Add a personal title, subtitle and a date, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand; Paper and Sand suit a warm, woollen interior.
