Gliwice Map Poster & Print
Gliwice is one of the major cities of Upper Silesia, and its map shows several eras at once. At the centre is a small, almost oval old town with a square market in the middle. Its streets are still arranged the way medieval planners laid them out, while the ring where the walls once stood now carries a loop of roads.
Outside that core, the city spreads into industrial land, rail yards and housing estates. The Kłodnica river runs through it, and the Gliwice Canal starts here and heads toward the Oder, giving the city a long, straight line of water. The A1 and A4 motorways meet on the southern edge in a large interchange.
A Gliwice map poster also marks the site of the Gliwice Radio Tower, a wooden transmitter tower from the 1930s. It is often described as the tallest wooden structure in Europe and was the setting of the staged incident used as a pretext for the invasion of Poland in 1939. The city is also home to the Silesian University of Technology.

Gliwice Canal
The canal begins in Gliwice's port and runs toward the Oder in a long, straight line. Its engineered geometry stands out against the winding Kłodnica.
Radio tower site
The wooden radio tower stands in a green lot north of the centre. It is one of the city's best-known historical sites and the subject of many visits.
