Kōge lies in the mountainous interior of eastern Tottori Prefecture, in a valley south of the prefectural capital. It is now part of the town of Yazu. On a map, the settled area follows the valley floor. Streets and a railway line run along it, and houses cluster near the stations and main roads. The flat ground is patterned with rice paddies, and steep forested hills rise on both sides.
The shape is typical of rural western Japan. The flat land is fully used for homes, farms and transport, while the slopes stay wooded and almost empty on the map. Small rivers wind through the valley, and roads branch into side valleys toward outlying hamlets. The result is a long, organic composition shaped entirely by the terrain.

A railway line and main road follow the valley. Their parallel lines give the composition direction and tie the town to Tottori city to the north.
