Koudougou lies about a hundred kilometres west of Ouagadougou and is one of the largest cities in Burkina Faso. The land around it is flat savanna, so the map is shaped mainly by its streets. A broadly regular grid of wide roads spreads out from the centre, with the blocks becoming larger and looser as the town gives way to fields and scattered compounds.
The railway toward Ouagadougou passes through town, forming a long straight line across the map. Koudougou has a history in cotton textiles, and it is home to a public university. Every other year it hosts the Nuits Atypiques de Koudougou, a music festival known across the region.
A Koudougou map poster has an open, orderly character. The grid is clear but not rigid, small reservoirs and seasonal ponds add soft shapes, and the rail line provides a strong axis. It works well for people who studied or grew up here and want to keep a calm, precise image of the town.
Wide streets form a loose grid across the flat land, extending outward into larger blocks at the edge of town.
The railway runs straight through Koudougou, the longest single line on the map and a clear visual anchor.
Small reservoirs and seasonal ponds around town add rounded shapes of water to the otherwise flat landscape.
