Mufumbwe is the administrative centre of a district in Zambia's North-Western Province, a sparsely populated region of woodland, plains and rivers. The town itself is small, and from above it reads as a handful of streets and plots gathered around the main road, with public buildings, a market area and homes spread out in a relaxed, uncrowded pattern.
