Sinnūris lies in the Faiyum depression, a fertile basin west of the Nile. Water carried in by canals has supported farming here since antiquity. The map shows the town surrounded by a dense pattern of fields, divided by irrigation channels and farm roads that spread out in every direction.
The town itself is compact, with a tight core of streets and small blocks. Main roads lead toward Faiyum city to the south and toward other villages of the basin. Canals pass close to the built-up area and give the streets a direction.
