Yarmouth runs the full width of Cape Cod, from the salt marshes of Cape Cod Bay in the north to the beaches and inlets of Nantucket Sound in the south. On a map that gives it an unusual vertical shape: a quiet northern edge, a wooded middle crossed by the Mid-Cape Highway, and a southern shoreline broken into coves, rivers and harbours.
Incorporated in 1639, it is one of the oldest towns on the Cape. Along the Old King's Highway in Yarmouth Port stand many houses built for sea captains in the nineteenth century, while the Bass River, the town's eastern boundary with Dennis, is one of the largest tidal rivers on Cape Cod.
A Yarmouth map poster brings out the contrast between the two coasts. The northern marshes appear as soft, open ground, while the south is dense with streets packed close to the water and cut by fingers of estuary. Three main roads cross the town from east to west, stacking the composition into distinct bands.
The broad tidal river forms the eastern edge of town, reaching deep inland from Nantucket Sound and drawing a long, branching shape down one side of the map.
Along Nantucket Sound the coastline is broken by small rivers and harbours, with neighbourhoods of short streets crowded between them, giving the lower part of the print its finest detail.
Route 6A follows the north side of town through Yarmouth Port, a historic road lined with old houses and set against the wide salt marshes of Cape Cod Bay.

Yarmouth is a place of summers for many families, who return to the same cottage or beach year after year, and a year-round home for others. A map that shows both shores holds all those memories in a single frame.
Add a title such as Yarmouth or South Yarmouth, a subtitle with a family name, and a year. Blueprint and Sand suit the coastal setting well. Download HD files for $9 or order a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
