Massakory is the capital of the Hadjer-Lamis region in western Chad, northeast of N'Djamena and on the way toward the Lake Chad basin. From above, the town sits on a wide, flat Sahelian landscape, where open ground stretches in every direction and the built area forms a compact patch of streets and compounds.
The plan is simple and low-rise. A few main roads cross the town and continue outward, and around them lie blocks of walled courtyards and small neighbourhoods.
