Te mapa
Aghdam lies where the Karabakh foothills meet the plain in southwestern Azerbaijan. Before the early 1990s it was a large regional centre. The city was captured in 1993 during the First Karabakh War and later almost entirely destroyed, and it remained empty for nearly three decades. It returned to Azerbaijani control in 2020.
From above, the pre-war street plan is still clear: a regular grid of long, straight streets with the centre around the main mosque, one of the few buildings that survived. Much of the land between the streets was empty for years, so the map shows the framework of a city rather than its dense fabric.
An Aghdam map poster is therefore an unusual object. It records a street pattern that people remember, that stood deserted for a generation and that is now at the centre of large-scale reconstruction plans. For many families it is a map of a place they were forced to leave.
Long straight streets meet at right angles across the city, a clear planned layout that remained legible even when most buildings were gone.
The mosque at the centre survived the destruction of the city around it and remains the main landmark within the street plan.
The city lies at the transition between the Karabakh hills to the west and the flat lowland to the east, visible in the roads leading out.

Koteā ko Aghdam
For families from Aghdam and their descendants, this map can hold memories of addresses, schools and streets that were lost for decades. It is a quiet, respectful way to keep the city's shape at home.
Add a title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps a family name or the year of leaving or returning, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9, and matte prints are available with an optional frame.
