Te mapa
Al Kiswah lies a short distance south of Damascus, on the main road that runs toward Daraa and the Jordanian border. It has long been a waypoint on this route, historically serving travellers heading south from the capital, including pilgrims. From above, the town stretches along the road, with its streets spreading out on either side across fairly level ground.
The surroundings are open and dry, with low hills rising nearby and farmland patched across the plain. The town's layout mixes an older, irregular core with more regular later development. The highway and its connecting roads provide the strongest lines on the map, tying the town firmly to Damascus to the north.
An Al Kiswah map poster shows a place shaped by movement, a settlement that grew because of the road passing through it. The composition is strongly directional, with the main route running across the frame and the town gathered along it. For those with family roots here, it is a clear and dignified way to keep the place close.
The main road south from Damascus runs through the town, the dominant line on the map and the reason the settlement grew where it did.
The historic centre has a denser, less regular street pattern than the newer quarters, visible as a tighter knot of lines near the town's middle.
Around the built area, farmland and open ground stretch toward low hills, leaving wide margins of white space that frame the town.

Koteā ko Al Kiswah
Many people from Al Kiswah now live far from it, and a map of the town can mean a great deal: a record of streets and neighbourhoods that belongs to the family, whatever has changed since.
The title and subtitle can be written in Arabic or English, and the coordinates line can be edited or removed. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download or order a printed poster.
