Alcúdia sits on the northern coast of Mallorca, on a neck of land between the Bay of Pollença to the north and the wide Bay of Alcúdia to the south. The map is framed by water on both sides, with the rocky peninsula of Cap des Pinar extending east into the sea.
At its centre is the walled old town, a compact knot of narrow streets enclosed by medieval ramparts that still show clearly on the map. Just outside the walls lie the remains of Pollentia, the Roman city that preceded it. To the southeast, Port d'Alcúdia's harbour gives way to a long sandy beach and, inland, the wetlands of s'Albufera.
