Former river island
The historic centre sits where the Júcar once split in two. Its rounded footprint, now bounded by avenues instead of water, is the clearest trace of the town's origins.

Te mapa
Alzira grew on an island in the river Júcar, known locally as the Xúquer. One arm of the river was later filled in, but the curved outline of the historic centre still hints at the water that once enclosed it. Around the core, newer districts spread in regular blocks across the fertile plain of the Ribera Alta.
Beyond the streets, the map fills with the fine geometry of citrus orchards, irrigation channels and rural roads. To the east rise the wooded slopes of the Serra de la Murta, a protected natural area that gives the edge of the frame a softer, contoured texture. An Alzira map poster brings together river, town and farmland in one view.
Alzira is the capital of the Ribera Alta comarca and one of the places where the Valencian orange trade took shape. The town's relationship with the Júcar has been complicated. The river brought fertile soil and water for the orchards, but also serious floods, including the one that followed the failure of the Tous dam in 1982.
The historic centre sits where the Júcar once split in two. Its rounded footprint, now bounded by avenues instead of water, is the clearest trace of the town's origins.
Orange groves and irrigation ditches cover the plain around the town in a dense pattern of small plots, turning the outskirts into a fine, almost woven texture.
The hills east of the town break the flat grid with winding tracks and natural slopes, adding contrast between cultivated plain and upland scrub.

Koteā ko Alzira
Alzira is a quiet choice with a strong personal pull: for people raised among its orchards, for families who left for Valencia or abroad, or for anyone who remembers the smell of orange blossom in spring along the Júcar.
Add a title in Valencian or Spanish, a subtitle with a date, and the coordinates line. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, give the river and orchards a different mood each time.
