Te mapa
Anlong Veaeng lies in Ŏtâr Méanchey province, close to the Dângrêk mountains, which form Cambodia's northern border with Thailand. From above, the town is a modest network of streets around a central market area, with main roads running south into the plains and north toward the escarpment and the border crossing. Beyond the built-up area the landscape opens into fields, forest and small reservoirs.
The town has a difficult history. It was the final stronghold of the Khmer Rouge in the 1990s, and Pol Pot died in the area in 1998. Some sites connected with that period are now visited by people learning about Cambodia's recent past.
An Anlong Veaeng map poster shows a small town set against a large landscape. The street pattern is simple, and the roads leading out of town and the open country around it give the composition a feeling of distance. It is a quiet, spare map that suits a place defined as much by its surroundings as by its streets.

A main road leads north toward the Dângrêk escarpment and the Thai border. It draws a long line out of the town.
Fields, forest and small bodies of water surround the town. They leave generous empty space that gives the poster a calm, spare character.
