Te mapa
Anyang lies in the far north of Henan, on the flat plain east of the Taihang Mountains. The Huan River winds across the city from west to east, and the modern street grid is laid out in broad rectangular blocks on either side of it. Railway lines and expressways cut long, straight lines through the surrounding farmland.
The city is famous as the site of Yinxu, the ruins of a late Shang dynasty capital, where archaeologists found oracle bones carrying some of the earliest known Chinese writing. Yinxu was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2006, and the site lies along the Huan River northwest of the centre.
An Anyang map poster pairs this deep history with a clear modern plan. The river's gentle curves soften the rectangular grid, while wide arterial roads extend outward toward the countryside. To the west, the land begins to rise toward the mountains where the Red Flag Canal was cut in the 1960s.
The river meanders through Anyang, a soft curving line that crosses the orderly street grid and ties the modern city to the ancient site on its banks.
The ruins of the Shang capital lie northwest of the centre, where the map opens into a broad area of lower density near the river.
Modern Anyang is built on wide, regular blocks, a strong geometric pattern typical of cities on the North China Plain.

Koteā ko Anyang
Anyang is where much of Chinese written history begins, and its map carries a quiet sense of that weight. It makes a considered gift for anyone from the city, or for readers of history who value places where the past is still being uncovered.
Add your own title, subtitle or date, and choose one of five styles, from Classic black & white and Noir to Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Files arrive at 300 DPI in six print sizes, or order a matte print.
