Te mapa
Arenys de Mar lies on the Catalan coast northeast of Barcelona, in the Maresme. Its map has a strong vertical axis. A broad avenue, the Riera, follows the course of an old seasonal stream from the hills down to the sea, and the town's streets branch off it on both sides. At the bottom, a harbour with breakwaters juts into the Mediterranean.
The coastline is almost straight here, with a railway and a coastal road running right along the shore. Inland, the town rises gently, and the streets become more irregular as they climb. Terraced slopes, small valleys and farmland cover the hills behind. From above, the town looks like a narrow wedge pointing inland from the sea.
The poet Salvador Espriu wrote about Arenys under the name Sinera, and the town is known for its tradition of bobbin lace. An Arenys de Mar map poster shows the classic pattern of the Maresme: the sea, the railway, the port and a central avenue drawing the town up into the hills.
The wide avenue built along the old streambed runs from the hills to the coast. It is the town's main axis and the strongest line on the map.
Breakwaters enclose the port at the seaward end of the town. Their angular shapes stand out clearly against the smooth, straight coastline.
The railway runs along the shore between the town and the beaches. It traces the edge of the land in one long, uninterrupted stroke.

Koteā ko Arenys de Mar
Arenys de Mar has deep maritime roots, and many people know it as a town of fishermen, sailors and summer holidays. The map captures its link to the sea in a single glance and makes a fine print for residents and returning visitors alike.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a line from Espriu or a summer you spent there. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the harbour and the coastline well.
