Te mapa
Aş Şalāḩāt lies in Dakahlia Governorate, in the northeastern part of the Nile Delta, east of the provincial capital of Mansoura. It is part of one of the most intensively farmed landscapes in the world, where towns and villages sit close together among fields irrigated for thousands of years.
From above, the town is a dense cluster of buildings and narrow streets set against a much larger grid of long, thin fields. Irrigation canals and drains run straight across the land, and roads often follow their banks. The edge between town and farmland is sharp, since every available piece of delta soil is in use.
An Aş Şalāḩāt map poster records that delta pattern: a compact settlement in the middle, with canals and field lines stretching out in every direction. The flat land makes the water network the strongest element on the map, and the print reads almost like a diagram of how the Nile's water is shared across the countryside.
Straight canals and drains cross the surrounding land, carrying Nile water to the fields. They appear as the clearest lines on the map.
Buildings sit close together with narrow lanes between them, forming a tight, irregular patch within the regular field pattern.
Long, narrow plots surround the town on all sides, an agricultural landscape typical of Dakahlia and the wider eastern delta.
