Te mapa
Atoyac de Álvarez sits on the Costa Grande of Guerrero, northwest of Acapulco, where the coastal plain begins to rise into the Sierra Madre del Sur. The map shows a town beside a river, with a regular core of blocks. The terrain turns steeper and the roads more winding to the north and east, as they head up into the mountains.
The town is named after Juan Álvarez, a nineteenth-century general and president of Mexico from Guerrero. The mountains above Atoyac have long been known for coffee growing, and the surrounding lowlands produce tropical crops. The Pacific coast is only a short distance to the south.
An Atoyac de Álvarez map poster captures that edge between plain and mountain. There is an orderly centre, a river line nearby, and roads that stretch straight toward the coast in one direction and wind into the sierra in the other. It is a clear, grounded image of this part of Guerrero.
A regular pattern of blocks around the main square forms the historic core, typical of Mexican towns across the region.
The Atoyac River runs near the town, and its course gives the map a natural curving line through the plain.
Roads heading north climb into the Sierra Madre del Sur toward coffee-growing country, becoming noticeably more winding.
