Te mapa
This Aurangābād is in southern Bihar, not to be confused with the larger city of the same name in Maharashtra. It is the headquarters of its district in the Magadh region and sits on the broad, flat plain that stretches south of the Ganges toward the Chota Nagpur hills. From above, the town is compact, with a dense market core and roads spreading outward.
The main national highway corridor that follows the route of the historic Grand Trunk Road crosses the district. The town's plan reflects that role as a stop between the eastern and western halves of northern India. Lanes near the centre are narrow and irregular. Farther out, the pattern opens up into scattered settlements and rectangular farm plots.
The surrounding district is known for the Sun Temple at Deo, a pilgrimage site especially busy during the Chhath festival. An Aurangābād map poster stays close to the town itself: a crowded centre, radiating roads and a landscape of fields reaching in every direction across the level ground.
The oldest part of town packs narrow, irregular lanes into a small area, a dark and dense patch at the centre of the printed map.
A major east–west route in the tradition of the Grand Trunk Road crosses the district, giving the town its connections and a strong line on the map.
Around the town, the flat Bihar plain is divided into fields and small villages, a quiet, fine-grained texture framing the urban centre.
