Awlād Şaqr is a town in the northeastern part of Sharqia Governorate, on the eastern side of the Nile Delta. The land here is flat and intensively farmed. From above, the most noticeable pattern is the network of irrigation canals and drains running across the countryside, dividing the fields into narrow, elongated strips that stretch toward the horizon.
The town is the centre of a district of the same name, serving the surrounding villages as a market and administrative hub. Its built-up area forms a dense cluster of short streets and closely spaced buildings, with roads following the canals out toward neighbouring settlements. Toward the east, the Delta's farmland gradually gives way to the drier land near the edge of the cultivated zone.
