Te mapa
Babīlā lies in Rif Dimashq Governorate, directly south of central Damascus, and forms part of the continuous urban belt that has grown around the capital. It began as a village among the orchards and fields of the Ghouta, the green belt once watered by the Barada river, and gradually merged into the city as Damascus expanded.
On a map, the old village logic is still visible in places. There are irregular lanes and tightly packed blocks, with a few straighter roads running through toward the city. Neighbouring districts press in on every side, so the edges of Babīlā are defined by streets rather than open land.
A Babīlā map poster is for people who come from this neighbourhood and want to keep an accurate picture of it. The black-and-white drawing shows dense residential fabric and the roads linking it to the rest of Damascus.
Closely packed blocks and narrow lanes fill most of the map, the texture of a former village absorbed into a large city.
Main roads run north toward the city centre and connect Babīlā to its neighbours, standing out as the clearest lines in the dense pattern.
The district grew from the agricultural Ghouta around Damascus, and traces of that older, irregular layout still shape its streets.

Koteā ko Babīlā
Many families from southern Damascus now live far from home. A map of Babīlā keeps the streets and lanes they knew in view, a personal record of a neighbourhood that matters to them.
