Te mapa
Bafatá sits in the interior of Guinea-Bissau, where the Geba River loops through flat, green country. From above, the town reads as a small, dense core near the water. Roads run out from it toward the surrounding farmland, and the river's curve sets a firm edge on one side of the composition.
The older part of town keeps a colonial-era street pattern of short blocks and modest squares. Around it, the layout loosens into irregular lanes and compounds. On a map, that shift from ordered centre to organic outskirts is easy to see, and it gives the image a quiet sense of how the town grew.
Bafatá is best known as the birthplace of Amílcar Cabral, the leader of the independence movements of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde. A Bafatá map poster shows the plain geography of that place: a river, a crossroads town and the open land around it, drawn in clean black lines.
The river curves past the town and gives the map its strongest natural line, a soft sweep of water set against the finer grain of streets.
The historic core near the river is laid out in short, regular blocks that stand out clearly from the looser fabric around them.
Routes leave town in several directions across the flat countryside, so Bafatá reads on the page as a small hub in a wide landscape.
