Te mapa
Bendigo grew rapidly after gold was found in the area in 1851, and the wealth of the diggings is still written into its map. The centre lies along Bendigo Creek. Pall Mall and the surrounding streets are lined with substantial civic buildings. Roads radiate outward over low, rolling country toward the surrounding forests and former mining sites.
At the heart of the city, Rosalind Park covers a hillside of lawns and paths beside the main street. The Alexandra Fountain marks the Charing Cross junction. A short way from the centre stands Sacred Heart Cathedral, whose tall spire is a landmark of central Victoria. The Golden Dragon Museum records the city's Chinese heritage.
A Bendigo map poster captures an inland Australian city built on nineteenth-century confidence: wide streets, generous parks, creek lines, and suburbs reaching into the bush. Heritage trams still run along some of the central streets. They are a reminder that the city was laid out for movement and display.
A large, hilly park sits beside the main streets. On the map it appears as an open green block that anchors the heart of the city.
The creek runs through the centre in a channel, followed by roads and paths. Its line marks the valley where the early diggings were concentrated.
Main roads fan out from the centre toward surrounding towns, crossing bushland and old mining country. They give the poster a clear radial structure.

Koteā ko Bendigo
Bendigo means a lot to people who have lived or studied in central Victoria, or whose families came during the gold rush. A map of its streets and parks is a personal alternative to a photograph of one landmark.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a family name or the year you arrived, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries.
