King Island lies at the western entrance to Bass Strait, between Tasmania and the Australian mainland. It is longer from north to south than it is wide, and its interior of pasture, lagoons and scrub rises and falls gently. From above, a loose grid of country roads crosses the island. The coast alternates between long sandy beaches, rocky points and offshore reefs.
The main town, Currie, sits on the west coast near the island's harbour. The smaller settlements are Grassy in the south-east and Naracoopa on the east coast. Cape Wickham in the far north has a lighthouse often cited as the tallest in Australia. It was built after a series of shipwrecks on the surrounding reefs, which are among the most dangerous in the strait.
The island is known across Australia for its cheese, beef and kelp, and more recently for golf courses laid out along its dunes. A King Island map poster captures a place shaped by weather and water: open farmland, a few settlements, and a coast that has drawn sailors, surfers and walkers for generations.
The northern tip of the island, where a tall stone lighthouse looks out over reefs that wrecked many ships. Here the outline narrows toward the open strait.
The main town on the west coast: a compact cluster of streets around a small harbour, facing straight into the swell that rolls in from the west.
Straight farm roads divide the interior into broad, regular blocks. This quiet pattern contrasts with the ragged shoreline and scattered lagoons.

Koteā ko King Island
King Island suits people connected to its farms, its fishing and surfing coast or its golf courses, and anyone who has crossed Bass Strait to visit. Its long outline sits well in a tall frame.
Personalise the poster with a title, a subtitle such as the name of a farm or beach, and a date. Choose one of five styles, from Noir to Sand. HD files cost $9 for all six sizes, and printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
