Te mapa
Bermeo is a fishing town on the coast of Bizkaia in the Basque Country. It sits at the mouth of the Urdaibai estuary, which is protected as a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The town is built around its harbour. The old port is enclosed by quays, and narrow streets climb steeply from the waterfront into the hills behind.
Bermeo has long been one of the most important fishing ports on the Cantabrian coast. Its fleet is still active today. Within its municipal area lies San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, the small islet with a hermitage reached by a stone stairway. It has become one of the most photographed places on the Basque coast.
A Bermeo map poster captures a compact, harbour-centred town. Breakwaters and quays create sharp shapes against the sea, and the old streets form a dense block above them. The rocky coastline adds strong, irregular edges to the composition.
The port is enclosed by long breakwaters and quays. Their clear, angular shapes stand out against the open water of the Bay of Biscay.
Above the harbour, the historic streets climb the hillside in a tight pattern. They make the densest and most detailed part of the drawing.
The coast around Bermeo is rocky and indented, with cliffs and small coves. It gives the map a dramatic, uneven edge.

Koteā ko Bermeo
Bermeo means something to fishing families, Basque people living abroad and visitors who walked the stairway to Gaztelugatxe. A map of the port keeps that coastline present in daily life.
