Białołeka Map Poster & Print
Białołeka is one of the largest districts of Warsaw by area, lying on the right bank of the Vistula in the north-east of the city. The river forms its long western edge, and the Żerań Canal runs straight through it toward the Zegrze Reservoir, a rare ruler-drawn line of water in a landscape otherwise shaped by meanders, floodplain meadows and old village roads.
For much of the twentieth century the area was a patchwork of villages, allotments and fields. Since the 1990s it has become one of the fastest-growing parts of the capital, with housing estates such as Tarchomin rising along the river. The Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bridge, opened in 2012, now links Tarchomin directly with Bielany on the opposite bank.

The river bounds the district to the west, with a wide floodplain of meadows and woodland between the water and the first housing estates.

The Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bridge crosses the Vistula from Tarchomin to Bielany, one of the city's newer river crossings and a strong horizontal line on the map.
