Biłgoraj lies in the south of the Lublin region, between the hills of Roztocze and the wide woodland known as the Solska Forest. On the map, the town is a compact grid of streets laid over flat ground, with the Czarna Łada river running through it. Green space along the water breaks up the blocks and gives the centre a soft, open seam.
The older market-town core is easy to find: a tighter pattern of streets near the middle, with later housing estates and industrial areas spreading outward. Roads leave the town in several directions, heading toward Zamość, Lublin and the forests. Past the last houses, the map empties into fields and then into long stretches of woodland.
