Te mapa
Bognor Regis stretches along the coast of West Sussex, on the flat coastal plain between Chichester and Littlehampton. The map is dominated by one long line: the seafront, running nearly straight from east to west. Behind it, streets extend inland in a mix of Victorian terraces, interwar estates and later suburbs.
Because the land is so level, the town spreads outward without much interruption, and its shape is set largely by the coast and by neighbouring villages that have grown into it. The pier pushes out into the Channel, and the promenade traces the edge of the shingle beach.
The town added Regis to its name after King George V spent time recovering from illness here in 1929. It has been a holiday resort since the late eighteenth century and is also home to a well-known holiday camp. A Bognor Regis map poster shows a classic English seaside layout, with the sea as a clean, empty field below the streets.
A long, nearly straight shoreline forms the southern boundary of the map, with the promenade running beside the beach for much of its length.
The pier extends from the seafront into the Channel, a small but distinctive line that breaks the smooth edge of the coast.
Inland, residential streets spread across flat ground in curving suburban closes and older straight terraces, filling the map with varied texture.
