Te mapa
Bonito is a town in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the southwest of Brazil. It is widely known as one of the country's main destinations for nature tourism, drawing visitors to its exceptionally clear rivers. The town itself, however, is small and orderly, laid out on a regular grid of streets that shows up clearly on the map.
The clarity of the water comes from the limestone bedrock of the region, which filters the rivers and creates springs, sinkholes and caves. Among the best-known sites are the Gruta do Lago Azul, a cave with a deep blue lake, and rivers such as the Sucuri and the Rio da Prata, where visitors float over the fish and the vegetation below.
Beyond the town grid, rural roads lead out toward the farms, reserves and ridges of the Serra da Bodoquena. A Bonito map poster frames the compact streets at the centre along with the rivers and roads that extend into this unusual karst landscape, the reason so many people travel here.
The town centre follows a clear rectangular grid, making it one of the most orderly shapes in the surrounding countryside.
Rivers wind through the landscape around Bonito, their courses visible on the map as fine lines leading toward springs and floating sites.
Unpaved and rural roads branch out from town toward caves, farms and nature attractions, extending the map into open country.

Koteā ko Bonito
Bonito often marks a memorable trip: snorkelling in a clear river, seeing the blue cave or travelling through western Brazil. A map of it keeps that journey present long after the photos are forgotten.
