Te mapa
Bridgetown sits on the southwest coast of Barbados, where the Constitution River runs into a slim tidal basin known as the Careenage. From above, that inlet is the clear centre of the map: a finger of water pointing inland, crossed by two short bridges, with the streets of the old commercial district packed tightly along its northern bank and the shoreline of Carlisle Bay sweeping away to the south.
The street pattern follows the English colonial town rather than a planned grid. Lanes bend to follow the waterfront and old property lines, then loosen into residential roads that climb gently inland across Saint Michael. To the south, the Garrison area opens up around a large oval savannah that was once a military parade ground and has long been used as a racecourse. To the northwest, the breakwaters of the Deep Water Harbour square off the coast.
In 2011 Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognised as an outstanding example of British colonial town planning in the Caribbean. A Bridgetown map poster captures that combination at a glance: the inlet and its bridges, the dense core beside it, the open Garrison oval and the long, calm line of the bay framing everything in black and white.

An open oval south of the centre, surrounded by former barracks and military buildings. In a line drawing it reads as a clean void among the finer street pattern.
A broad, gently curving bay along the southwest coast. Its smooth edge contrasts with the close-packed streets of the centre and the angular harbour works further north.

Koteā ko Bridgetown
For people who have lived in Barbados, married on the south coast or have family roots in Saint Michael, this map is a quiet reminder of a very particular shape: the inlet, the bay, the oval. It suits a hallway or study as easily as a living room.
You can change the title, add a subtitle such as a wedding date or a family name, and edit the coordinates line. Choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, then download HD files for $9 or order a printed poster, framed if you like.
