Te mapa
Brooklyn Center lies directly north of Minneapolis in Hennepin County, with the Mississippi River along its eastern edge. The map reads as a classic postwar suburb, with curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs framed by major highways. Interstate 94 and Interstate 694 meet within the city. Shingle Creek winds through it toward the river, lined by a thread of parkland.
The city grew out of the former Brooklyn Township and expanded rapidly after the Second World War. For decades it was known across the region for Brookdale, an early enclosed shopping centre that has since been largely redeveloped. Today it is one of the most diverse suburbs in Minnesota, with neighbourhoods on both sides of the freeway corridors and along the river.
A Brooklyn Center map poster shows how a mid-century suburb meets its landscape. The wide Mississippi runs along one side and Shingle Creek curves through the middle. The hard geometry of the interchanges cuts through the soft residential loops. It suits people who grew up in the northern Twin Cities and want a map of their own town instead of downtown Minneapolis.
The river runs along the eastern boundary, a broad pale band that separates Brooklyn Center from the communities on the opposite bank.
The creek meanders through the city toward the Mississippi, bordered by green space. It draws a soft, winding line across the suburban streets.
Interstate 94 and Interstate 694 meet within the city. Their ramps and interchanges are the boldest, most geometric shapes on the map.

Koteā ko Brooklyn Center
Suburban maps often surprise people, because the loops and cul-de-sacs look striking once the colour is stripped away. For anyone whose childhood home or first apartment was in Brooklyn Center, this map feels personal in a way a skyline print never could.
