Te mapa
Budadiri lies in Sironko District in eastern Uganda, on the lower western slopes of Mount Elgon. The land rises steadily from the plains toward the mountain, and the town's streets and the tracks around it bend with the slope. From above, the settlement is compact, with a main road passing through and smaller paths leading out to villages and farms on the hillsides.
The surrounding hillsides are densely farmed, with small plots of bananas, beans and coffee reaching high up the mountain. The area is part of the Bugisu coffee region, known for its Arabica. Streams cut narrow valleys down the slopes, and on the map they appear as fine lines running toward the lowlands, crossed here and there by footpaths and farm tracks.
Budadiri is best known as the starting point of the Sasa Trail, one of the main hiking routes into Mount Elgon National Park and toward Wagagai, the mountain's highest peak. A Budadiri map poster shows the town as a gateway: a small cluster of streets where the lowlands end and the long climb to the caldera begins.
East of the town, the ground rises toward the mountain, and roads and paths bend with the contours. This gives the map a strong sense of direction and ascent.
Streams run down from the upper slopes in narrow valleys. They are drawn as fine, branching lines that add texture and movement to the eastern part of the poster.
Tracks leading from the town toward the national park mark the start of the Sasa route, linking everyday streets with Mount Elgon's high moorland.

Koteā ko Budadiri
Budadiri means something to climbers who have set out for Wagagai from here, to coffee buyers who know the Bugisu region, and to the Bagisu families who call these slopes home. A map of the town holds all of those connections.
