Te mapa
Būmahen lies just east of Tehran, where the city's outskirts give way to the foothills of the Alborz. From above, the town stretches along the main road heading east out of the capital. Its streets climb and bend with the rising ground, and the dry, folded hills leave a strong textured border around the built-up area.
The landscape largely determines the town's shape. Where the land is flatter, near the road, the blocks are denser and more regular. Towards the hills they thin out and follow contours. Nearby, the Jajrud valley and the newer planned town of Pardis are part of the same eastern corridor, with commuters moving in and out of Tehran each day.
A Būmahen map poster shows a place defined by its position: close enough to feel the pull of the capital, but already on the edge of the mountains. In monochrome the contrast between the linear road corridor and the irregular slopes gives the composition a clear sense of direction.
The main route east from Tehran runs through or beside the town. It is the backbone that the rest of the street network hangs from.
Hills rise close to the town and shape its edges. Streets bend and thin out as they meet the slopes, giving the map a jagged outline.
Būmahen belongs to a chain of settlements east of the capital. On a wider framing, neighbouring towns line the same valley route.
