Te mapa
Casablanca faces the Atlantic, and from above the ocean forms a long edge along the northern side of the map. The small old medina sits beside the port, a compact knot of irregular lanes, and from there wide boulevards radiate inland in a fan laid out during the French protectorate. Beyond them the city spreads outward in ring roads and newer districts.
Much of the central plan dates from the early twentieth century, when the urban planner Henri Prost set out broad avenues and public squares. The city became known for its Art Deco and modernist buildings, and the pattern of boulevards meeting at plazas still defines the centre. The harbour itself, one of the largest in Africa, fills a long stretch of shoreline.
On a platform over the water stands the Hassan II Mosque, whose minaret is among the tallest in the world. A Casablanca map poster shows it at the ocean's edge, with the Corniche of Ain Diab extending west along the beaches and the dense grid of Morocco's economic capital spreading out behind it.

A compact district of narrow, irregular lanes beside the port, surrounded on its landward side by the broad boulevards of the later colonial city.
Wide avenues spread inland from the centre in a fan, meeting at squares and roundabouts that give Casablanca its clear planned structure.

Casablanca is known worldwide through its name alone, but for many people it is a real home, a place of work or the first city they saw in Morocco. The poster shows the ocean, medina and boulevards together in one clean frame.
