Te mapa
Castillejos lies in Zambales province on the western side of Central Luzon, a short distance north of Subic and Olongapo. From above, the town follows the main national road that runs along the province, with its centre gathered around the church and municipal buildings and neighbourhoods spreading out from there.
East of the town the land rises toward the Zambales Mountains, and rivers flow down from the uplands across the plain toward the sea. The region was heavily affected by the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, whose ash and later mudflows reshaped river channels throughout the province. Wide, pale riverbeds are still a feature of the landscape here.
The town is also connected to Ramon Magsaysay, the seventh President of the Philippines, whose ancestral house is preserved in Castillejos. A Castillejos map poster captures a town with one strong road axis, farmland on either side and the beginning of mountain terrain at the edge of the frame.
The main highway through Zambales passes through the town, forming a clear spine along which the centre and many barangays are arranged.
Rivers descending from the Zambales Mountains cross the plain in wide channels, some reshaped by volcanic sediment after 1991, and they appear as broad bands across the map.
To the east the terrain rises toward the Zambales range, so the dense lines of the town give way to open, empty space in that direction.
