Te mapa
Cendajuru lies in Cankuzo Province in eastern Burundi, in a landscape of rolling hills and valleys that extends toward the Tanzanian border. As in much of rural Burundi, people live spread across the hills rather than in one dense town. From above, the map looks like a network of paths, homesteads and small centres more than a conventional street grid.
Roads here tend to follow ridgelines and valley floors, winding around the terrain instead of running straight. Smaller tracks branch off to reach farms and neighbouring hills. On a map, these lines trace the shape of the land even without contour shading, creating loops and branches that feel almost botanical.
There are few well-known landmarks, and the character of Cendajuru comes from its farmland and hills and the communities spread across them. A Cendajuru map poster presents that rural geography in delicate lines. It makes a personal keepsake for people from the area, and a meaningful piece for anyone who has lived or worked in eastern Burundi.
The main routes follow ridges and valleys through the hills, bending with the land and giving the map smooth, flowing lines.
Smaller paths branch off the roads to reach homesteads and fields, creating a fine, tree-like pattern across the poster.
Homes are spread over the hills rather than packed into one centre, so the map has an open, even texture instead of a single dense core.
