Chahār Dangeh lies on the level ground south of Tehran, in the belt of towns that has grown up between the capital and the farmland beyond it. From above, the town is a tight weave of narrow residential lanes, mostly running at right angles. A few wider roads carry traffic through and connect it to the neighbouring cities of the metropolitan area.
Because the terrain is flat, the map is all about density and direction. Blocks are small and closely packed, the street pattern shifts slightly from one neighbourhood to the next, and the edges of the town meet open agricultural plots and major road corridors.
