Te mapa
Clydach lies in the lower Swansea Valley, a few miles north of Swansea, where the Lower Clydach River meets the Tawe. The valley floor is narrow, so the village follows it in a long, thin shape. The river, the main road and the line of the old Swansea Canal run side by side, and terraced streets climb the slopes above.
Clydach is best known for its nickel refinery, founded by Ludwig Mond at the start of the twentieth century and in operation for more than a hundred years. The works occupy a large site on the valley floor. Around them, rows of terraced houses reflect the industrial growth of that period, with chapels and shops along the main road.
Above the village the land rises to open hillside and forestry, and the valley continues north toward Pontardawe. A Clydach map poster shows how tightly industry, housing, river and canal were packed together in the valleys of South Wales. It works especially well in a tall portrait frame that follows the line of the valley.
The river runs down the valley floor beside the village, and its course sets the direction for almost every other line on the map.
The large refinery site founded by Ludwig Mond forms a broad, open block on the valley floor, a reminder of the village's industrial role.
Rows of terraced houses step up the valley sides in parallel lines, creating the layered pattern typical of South Wales valley villages.

Koteā ko Clydach
For people from the Swansea Valley, the shape of home is the shape of the valley itself. A print of Clydach, its river and its terraces is a meaningful gift for family living elsewhere in Wales or across the border.
Add a family name, a chapel or a date to the title and subtitle, and keep the coordinates for a precise touch. Choose Noir for a dark wall or Paper for a softer look, and order a framed print or print-ready files.
