Canals and lakes
Straight drainage canals and irregularly shaped lakes fill the map. Streets are routed around them, and the result is a playful, organic pattern.

Te mapa
Coconut Creek is in northern Broward County, Florida, part of the large suburban band between the Atlantic coast and the Everglades. It grew mostly from the 1960s onward as a planned community, and the map shows the typical South Florida pattern: major roads in a square grid, filled in with curving residential streets, cul-de-sacs and man-made lakes.
Water is everywhere on the map. Canals follow the main roads, and small lakes, dug partly to provide fill for building, appear among the neighbourhoods. The Sawgrass Expressway runs along the western side, and parks and golf courses leave larger green spaces between housing developments.
The city calls itself the Butterfly Capital of the World, a title linked to Butterfly World in Tradewinds Park. It also puts a strong emphasis on green space and conservation. A Coconut Creek map poster shows a suburb built around water: calm, curving and full of small lakes.
Straight drainage canals and irregularly shaped lakes fill the map. Streets are routed around them, and the result is a playful, organic pattern.
Wide roads form large square cells across the city. Inside each cell, residential streets curve and loop.
The large park in the north of the city, home to Butterfly World, is one of the biggest open green areas on the map.

Coconut Creek is a family place: first homes, school runs and evenings by the lake. The poster suits families who live there now and those who moved away and want to remember the neighbourhood.
