Te mapa
Dengzhou is the historic name of the city on the northern coast of the Shandong Peninsula, known today as Penglai. The sea shapes the map. A rugged coastline with headlands and small bays runs along the north, and the town spreads inland from the water, becoming more regular in the newer districts. Roads lead west along the coast and south across the peninsula.
For centuries Dengzhou was an important port and military base guarding the sea approach to northern China. Its old naval harbour, the Penglai Water City, survives as one of the country's best-preserved ancient harbours. Above it on the headland stands the Penglai Pavilion, closely tied in Chinese legend to the Eight Immortals and to rare sea mirages.
A Dengzhou map poster shows a city where land and sea meet in sharp, irregular lines. The enclosed harbour, the headland and the coastline give the design a strong sense of place. The inland streets add order and weight. In monochrome, the interplay between the coast and the grid becomes the whole story, told without colour or labels.
The historic walled naval harbour is still visible as an enclosed basin on the coast, a rare surviving piece of old maritime infrastructure.
The headland with the Penglai Pavilion juts into the sea, breaking the coastline and forming a natural focal point.
Bays and rocky points along the northern shore give the map an uneven, expressive edge facing the Bohai Strait.

Koteā ko Dengzhou
Dengzhou attracts people drawn to Chinese legend, maritime history and the northern Shandong coast. A map of the city keeps that meeting of sea and myth within view, in a form that is sober enough for any room.
Set your own title and subtitle, perhaps a family name or the year of a trip, and edit the coordinates line. Then choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint emphasises the harbour structures.
