Nancun is a town in Pingdu, within the Qingdao area of Shandong province. Its map is typical of the wide plains of eastern China. The built-up core is compact, with a network of streets around the main roads, and farmland in large rectangular fields surrounds it. Straight roads and irrigation lines run across the level land in long, regular strokes.
The town has grown as a local centre for industry and trade, and newer industrial and residential blocks have appeared around the older streets. Its position in the Qingdao region links it to one of northern China's main port cities, and major roads pass nearby. The surrounding land remains largely agricultural.
