Te mapa
Dioïla is a town in southern Mali, southeast of Bamako, in the Koulikoro area. It now serves as the centre of its own administrative region. From above, it is a spread-out settlement of compounds and sandy lanes on flat savannah. Roads connect it to Bamako and to the cotton-growing districts further south, and a river valley runs close by.
The map has a loose, organic structure. A central area around the market and administrative buildings is surrounded by neighbourhoods of family compounds, and each compound draws its own small rectangle. Beyond the town, fields and scattered trees cover the land. The river and its seasonal floodplain add a band of softer, curving lines.
A Dioïla map poster captures the quiet order of a Sahelian market town: a centre where roads meet, walled compounds all around, and wide farmland beyond. It suits families from the Bélédougou and Banimonotié areas, people living in Bamako or abroad, and anyone who has worked in southern Mali and remembers the town fondly.
Neighbourhoods are made up of walled family compounds, which appear as small, irregular blocks. Together they give the map a fine, cellular texture.
Roads toward Bamako and the southern cotton belt meet in town. Their convergence forms the organising structure of the composition.
A river valley passes near the town, and its winding course softens the edge of the map. It is a gentle counterweight to the straight roads.

Dioïla is home to many families spread across Mali and beyond. A map of the town is a quiet link to that place, whether it is framed in Bamako or in Paris.
