Te mapa
Djugu lies in the highlands of Ituri province in northeastern DR Congo, in hilly country west of Lake Albert. From above, the town appears as a loose cluster of streets and houses around its main roads, with farmland and small settlements spread across the surrounding hills. The terrain is rolling rather than steep, and roads follow its ridges and valleys.
The territory that takes its name from the town is largely agricultural, with fertile land used for crops and grazing. Its settlements are often small and spread out, and the map reflects that: the town centre is modest, and beyond it the land is dotted with paths, fields and villages.
A Djugu map poster keeps the focus on the essentials: the roads through the town, the shape of the settlement, and the open highland around it. It is a simple, personal piece for those who come from the area or have family there, and a clear record of a place that is rarely drawn with care.
The main roads follow the ridges and valleys of the hills, forming the backbone of the town and linking it to the wider territory.
The central area gathers around the main roads, where the pattern of streets and buildings is at its most concentrated.
Fields and scattered villages cover the surrounding hills, leaving plenty of open space around the town on the map.
