Te mapa
eMbalenhle lies on the Mpumalanga Highveld, close to the town of Secunda. It was established in the late 1970s alongside the development of the Sasol synthetic fuel plants, largely to house their workers. The name is usually translated as beautiful flower, and the township has since grown well beyond the boundaries of its original plan.
On the map, eMbalenhle reads as a planned settlement: long main roads define large sections, filled with tightly repeated residential blocks. Newer extensions have been added at the edges, sometimes with slightly different street patterns, so the layout records its phases of growth. Around it, the land is flat and open, typical of the Highveld grasslands.
The industrial complex near Secunda sits a short distance away, and the roads connecting the two are among the strongest lines in the area. An eMbalenhle map poster shows the township's ordered geometry and its setting in wide, open country, a clear picture of how industry and community developed side by side on the Highveld.
Residential areas are laid out in closely spaced, uniform blocks, forming a fine, even texture that fills much of the map with a regular pattern.
A few broad roads divide the township into sections and connect it to Secunda, their long lines giving structure to the dense grid of smaller streets.
Newer extensions sit at the outer boundaries, where the street pattern shifts slightly, showing how the township has expanded in stages.

For residents, and for the many families who have lived and worked here for decades, eMbalenhle is a close community with its own identity. A map of its streets is a personal way to mark that sense of belonging.
