Te mapa
Erechim was laid out in the early twentieth century as a planned colonial settlement in the north of Rio Grande do Sul, and its street plan still shows that intention clearly. Broad diagonal avenues cut across a regular grid and meet at a central square, a design that from above looks more like a small capital than a typical inland town.
The surrounding region was settled largely by immigrants of European origin, including Italian, German and Polish families, who farmed the rolling land around the town. The name is generally explained as a word from the Kaingang language meaning small field, a reference to the open grassland that once existed amid the forest.
An Erechim map poster makes the most of this geometry. The radiating streets create strong lines that draw the eye toward the centre, while the outer neighbourhoods follow the hills in less formal patterns. It is a rare case of a town whose original plan remains legible at a glance.
The main square sits where the principal avenues converge, making it the natural focal point of the map and the organising centre of the whole town.
Wide streets run at angles across the grid, a planning choice more familiar from larger capitals, producing star-shaped intersections that are uncommon in the region.
Away from the core, streets bend to follow the rolling terrain of the Alto Uruguai region, and the strict geometry gives way to softer outlines.

Koteā ko Erechim
Erechim's plan is the kind of design that people who grew up there recognise instantly and newcomers find surprising. As a poster it has an almost architectural quality, working well in a study, a living room or an office.
Add a title such as a family name, a subtitle with a date, and your own coordinates line, then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Digital files come in six print sizes, and printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries.
