Te mapa
Esquina lies at the south-western tip of Corrientes province in Argentina, and its name, meaning corner, describes its position well. The town sits where the Corriente river meets the Paraná. From above, the waterways dominate everything: channels, islands and wetlands spread out in every direction from a compact street grid.
The Paraná here is wide and braided, split into branches around long, low islands. The town has a strong connection to the river, and it is known in Argentina as a destination for sport fishing, especially for dorado.
An Esquina map poster shows a regular Spanish colonial grid of square blocks set against the irregular, organic shapes of water and floodplain. The town is geometric, and everything around it is fluid. That contrast is what makes the map so striking.
The Corriente joins the Paraná close to town. On the poster the two waterways and their branches form a complex, flowing pattern next to the settlement.
The town follows the classic Argentine checkerboard of square blocks. Its regularity contrasts sharply with the winding channels and marsh edges around it.
Long, low islands split the Paraná into several arms. At wider framings they fill the poster with elongated shapes, a characteristic sight of the Paraná river system.
