Te mapa
Galt lies in southern Sacramento County, between Sacramento and Stockton. On a map, two strong lines cross the town from north to south: State Route 99 and the railroad. The older street grid sits beside the tracks. Newer residential loops and cul-de-sacs spread out to the east and west, and square farm parcels begin where the subdivisions stop.
The town grew up around the railroad in the late nineteenth century and takes its name from Galt, Ontario. Its original blocks are still easy to pick out as a tidy rectangle of streets near the tracks. The later suburban pattern is a different thing: curving streets, looping drives and small parks tucked between them.
Dry Creek runs along the southern edge, and the Cosumnes River lies a short distance north, so the town is framed by riparian green. A Galt map poster shows that mix of rail-era grid, highway corridor and valley farmland in clean black lines. The weekly Galt Market is one of the best-known open-air markets in the region.

The historic core near the tracks keeps a regular rectangular grid of short blocks. It is easy to tell apart from the curving subdivisions that came later.
Dry Creek winds along the south side of Galt. Its meandering line and wooded banks give the map a soft natural border against the grid.

Koteā ko Galt
Galt is often the first house for families priced out of the bigger valley cities, and a map of it marks that start. The grid, the highway and the creek make a clear, balanced composition.
